Morocco Orders Ryanair to Comply with Local Currency Rules for Domestic Flights

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics has given a reminder to the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair about its commitments. Since March 31, the company has been operating domestic flights in Morocco in foreign currency and not in dirhams as required by the department of Mohammed Abdeljalil.
"Having found that tickets were only available for purchase through Moroccan international bank cards drawing on foreign exchange allocations, the ministry reminded the company of its commitments on March 29, 2024 and ordered it to comply with them as soon as possible," explains the Ministry of Transport and Logistics in a statement. Based on this finding, the department of Mohammed Abdeljalil "has decided to allow Ryanair to operate its domestic flights exceptionally for a period of one month (from Sunday, March 31) pending the company’s compliance with its obligations." This measure will also prevent inconvenience to passengers who had already purchased their tickets.
On Sunday, Ryanair officially launched its domestic flights in Morocco, with very attractive prices, thus becoming the third airline to operate flights in Morocco, after the Moroccan company Royal Air Maroc (RAM) and the company Air Arabia Maroc. The Irish low-cost airline plans to open 11 domestic routes in Morocco connecting nine Moroccan destinations to Agadir, Errachidia, Ess
