Morocco Opts for Lab Tests Over Rapid Screening for COVID-19 Diagnosis

While several countries have adopted rapid diagnostic orientation tests in the screening of the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health opts for the laboratory method for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV2, which requires between 3 to 5 hours.
Imported by Arab countries, such as Egypt and Kuwait, following successful experiences in South Korea, the process is distinguished by the early diagnosis of the infection, thus leaving a wide margin of maneuver for health professionals.
The centralization of analyzes at the Pasteur Institute and the national laboratory does not allow for the rapid management of patients, who are forced to wait 48 to 72 hours to know their results, due to the large number of tests to be carried out.
However, the reliability index of rapid tests in general remains a major obstacle to their use in the current state of affairs. The experience of other countries with the coronavirus test does not allow us to have the necessary hindsight as to its clinical effectiveness.
