Morocco’s Opposition PJD Slams Government Over Rising Prices and Social Tensions

In a context of high cost of living, the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) criticized the government, warning it against "the dangers of social tension".
For the Lamp party, the various measures taken by the government to mitigate the surge in prices of basic commodities and fuel are insufficient. In a statement released late last week, the Secretary General expressed concern about the situation, saying that fluctuations in international markets are not sufficient arguments to explain the rise in prices.
According to him, the government is slow in making decisions. Where are the skills and promises, confidence, strategy...? Wonders the PJD, for whom the size of the illusory promises that have proven to be false. The party accuses the government of hiding behind reform and the international context. "The government only has to assume its responsibility and have the courage to retract, because the matter requires only one signature, that of the Prime Minister," it is pointed out.
In such a difficult situation, the people do not accept to "remain neutral, keep silent, remain in observation, nor fall into provocation and misinformation by irresponsible statements such as the statements of the government spokesman," warned Benkirane, alluding to the prevarications of Mustapha Baitas on the price of tomatoes.
Expressing "great concern" about the continued rise in prices of many products, including fuels, the Secretary General called on the government to communicate in a "clear, serious and responsible" manner in order to take the necessary measures to deal with oil companies and protect citizens.
