Morocco’s Al Omrane Group Considers Reviving Affordable Housing Program Before 2020 Deadline

The Al Omrane Group intends to relaunch low-cost housing or 140,000 DH housing. In this sense, it organized a meeting in Fez.
The Al Omrane Group could relaunch low-cost housing (FVIT) or 140,000 DH housing offers before the expiration of the tax incentives deadline, scheduled for 2020, reports La vie éco.
At the Fez meeting, the first stage of a series of roadshows, the Minister of Housing, real estate developers, the Wali and, in particular, the President of the region, gathered to conduct a reflection at three levels.
The first, of a global nature, concerned all the measures to be put in place for the improvement of this segment (state support, tax exemption, involvement of all stakeholders, ...).
The second, more regional, took into account the specificities of each region, whether in terms of the needs of developers and potential buyers, land, ...
The third, which was specific to the holding company, consisted in proposing an offer capable of seducing the developers. This includes, among other things, the selection of land, depending on the size of the developer, with the ultimate goal of realizing around 1400 housing units in the Fez-Meknes region.
However, this relaunch of the sector recommended by the Al Omrane Group does not seem to delight the members of the National Federation of Real Estate Developers (FNPI). Through the voice of its President, Taoufik Kamil, it made it clear that the recovery of this housing segment could only be done through a complete and in-depth study.
"Moreover, discussions are underway with the ministries concerned, namely Housing and Finance," he said. However, the FNPI proposes to release 75% of the constructed property for sale and to remove the tax advantages granted to developers, details the same source.
