Morocco’s Olympic Coach Demands 10 Million Dirhams to Step Down
Friday 20 September 2019, by
Any amicable departure of the U23 coach, Patrice Beaumelle, from the management of the Olympic team is not feasible, given its cost for the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
A check for 10 million dirhams. This is the sacrifice to be made by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to part ways with the French technician who worked on the elimination of the Atlas Lions from the CAN and the Tokyo Olympics, reports the daily Assabah.
The same source also specifies that this astronomical sum represents for the deposed coach, a large part of the salaries of his contract, which runs until 2022.
According to the same source, the other solution envisaged by the FRMF to silence any controversy is to place the coach of the Olympic team in the National Technical Directorate (DTN), in case of refusal to terminate the contract. In this new position, Beaumelle will still receive his remuneration which is around 530,000 dirhams.
Hervé Renard’s assistant on the bench of the Moroccan national team, the choice of Patrice Beaumelle to succeed Dutchman Mark Wotte at the head of the Moroccan Olympic selection had been criticized.
This name had surprised more than one, given the lack of experience of the latter, whether as a coach or as a selector. Beaumelle has long remained in Renard’s technical staff. And yet, the FRMF offered him a first bench and a very high salary.
