Morocco’s Offshore Gas Reserves Surge 148%, Exceeding 1 Trillion Cubic Feet

The British gas explorer, holder of the Lixus permit off Larache, has just finalized the revaluation of the 3D seismic data in this area, and concludes that the country has more gas resources. Significant improvements in resource quality and depth are to be expected.
Netherland Sewell & Associates carried out this assessment on an area of about 50 km2, covering the Anchois gas discovery on the Lixus permit. The operation allowed an update of the resource level for the Anchois gas field development project, reports Maroc Hebdo Press.
Thus, the Kingdom gains an improvement in the total remaining recoverable resources to more than 1 Tcf ("trillion cubic feet", 1,000 billion cubic feet) for Anchois, an increase of 148%, including 361 billion cubic feet of 2C contingent resources and 690 billion cubic feet of 2U prospective resources.
The same source recalls that Netherland Sewell & Associates is a highly experienced group, specialized in the global oil industry, experienced in reports and audits on reserves, acquisition and divestment assessments, simulation studies, exploration resource assessments and management and advisory services.
Pierre Raillard is the name of the new Country manager for Morocco. He will lead the group’s activities in the country, with more than 25 years of operational and management experience in the energy sector, with in-depth expertise in the development of natural gas projects in Africa.
