Morocco Offers Tax Relief: Up to 100% Cancellation on 2020 Arrears

Moroccan taxpayers benefit from significant relief on tax arrears and tax burdens imposed for the year 2020 and unpaid as of December 31 of the same year.
Taxes, duties and taxes imposed for the 2020 fiscal year and not settled before the end of December 2020 are taken into account by this decision. The cancellation decided by the 2021 finance law can be partial or total, specifies the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI).
To benefit from the total cancellation, the taxpayer must settle the full amount of the tax principal before July 1. In addition, the person concerned must not have been the subject of a correction procedure that resulted in a written agreement and followed by the issuance of a tax assessment notice before this date. A taxpayer who has been the subject of a correction and who has paid all or part of these penalties, fines, increases and collection costs, in the following years.
On the other hand, taxpayers who are only liable for fines, penalties, increases and collection costs, for their part, benefit from a partial reduction of 50%, provided they pay the remaining 50% before July 1 of the current year, details the same source.
