Morocco Offers 12-Month Tax Break for Workers Rehired After COVID Job Losses

The government has decided to exempt from income tax (IR) employees who have regained the jobs they lost during the coronavirus health crisis.
This measure, announced by the Minister of Finance during his intervention in the second chamber, was voted on within the Finance Committee of the same Chamber, reports Medias24. It exempts from IR for 12 months these employees who lost their jobs between March 1 and the end of September 2020, due to the Covid-19 crisis. This exemption is capped at a monthly salary of 10,000 dirhams.
In addition to this measure, the parliamentarians also voted to set up a supplementary contribution for self-employed workers. This will allow them to join the AMO scheme as of 2021.
According to the Minister of Finance, this financial support is based on that decided for professionals, merchants or craftsmen who choose the single professional contribution regime.
