Morocco's Northern Gem: Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma Unveils Ambitious Tourism Makeover for 2025

This summer, the Regional Tourism Council (CRT) of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma has concocted an ambitious program to attract Moroccan tourists.

"For the 2025 summer season, our region has made the bet on quality and accessible tourism, with a better structured tourist offer, adapted to the expectations of Moroccan visitors, and strengthened infrastructure," emphasizes Rkia Alaoui, president of the CRT of Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma. In search of freshness and moments of escape, thousands of Moroccans rush, as every year, to cities like Tanger, Tétouan, M’diq or Chefchaouen, notes Le Matin. "We are very proud of the dynamic that has been set in motion, which reflects a collective effort, involving public authorities, professionals and local stakeholders," rejoices Alaoui.

In Tanger, the emphasis is on comfort and safety. "We have redeveloped the beaches with the installation of free parasols, modern showers, and reinforced rescue posts," details Alaoui, adding that these improvements are accompanied by a vast cleanliness campaign and strict supervision of summer activities in order to guarantee a clean and pleasant environment for everyone.

The CRT has launched several ambitious projects in the Tétouan and M’diq region. "New cultural circuits are enriching the offer, in parallel with the creation of modern seaside infrastructure and innovative attractions to meet growing demand." In Chefchaouen, the CRT makes the enhancement of heritage a priority. "We have intensified the cleaning campaigns, improved the urban environment, particularly in the emblematic alleys, and strengthened support for local accommodations so that the authentic charm of the city is preserved, while improving the comfort of visitors," says Alaoui.

In order to attract more Moroccan tourists, the CRT is implementing a medium-term strategic plan in line with the 2023–2026 national roadmap. "We are deploying 21 flagship projects, with a regional budget of 1.71 billion dirhams, aimed at enhancing the historic medinas of Tanger and Tétouan, promoting ecotourism in Chefchaouen and strengthening seaside areas such as Tamuda Bay and Al Hoceïma," explains the CRT president. Among these projects aimed at diversifying the tourist offer, while promoting sustainable and responsible tourism, is the creation of a leisure village in Tétouan.

For the summer of 2025, the region is also counting on a dense and accessible cultural program, with "a series of artistic events, street performances, interactive workshops and outdoor activities, particularly in the medinas," details Alaoui. Her wish is to offer visitors an authentic immersion in the local cultural richness, by creating playful and participatory experiences, open to all.
