Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline Project Advances as Morocco Completes Key Preparations

Morocco is working to fulfill its part in the realization of the onshore and offshore gas pipeline project with Nigeria. The various preparatory bodies and plans are being put in place for the effective start of this major regional project.
The Moroccan authorities have announced the completion of the plans/preparations and the establishment of a division of the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) in charge of the NMGP project, reports Financial Afrik.
Ultimately, the new regional gas pipeline will transport natural gas resources from Nigeria to Morocco through West and North Africa. In its extension, the pipeline will supply natural gas resources from Nigeria to 13 countries in West and North Africa as an extension of the existing West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) between Nigeria, Benin, Togo and Ghana.
With an estimated reserve of 300 Tcf of conventional and unconventional gas in place, Morocco could replace the gas lost from Algeria to Spain via the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline, the same sources point out.
