Morocco’s National Team Coach Hervé Renard to Step Down After Africa Cup of Nations

Bad news for the Moroccan national football team a little over a month before the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) at the end of which Hervé Renard will no longer be the coach of the Atlas Lions.
The white wizard’s decision has already been made, reports the sports newspaper L’Equipe, which states that there is no possible turnaround and that the Frenchman’s next club or nation are not known at this time. Rumors mention a return to a Ligue 1 team in France (Lyon) or another country, Iran and Egypt would be in the running.
In any case, Hervé Renard can boast of having a good record with the Moroccan team. Arrived in 2017, he managed not only to qualify the Atlas Lions for the World Cup in Russia, 20 years after the last qualification (France 1998), but also to climb the FIFA ranking of the Lions.
Today, Hervé Renard’s task with Morocco is to leave it with honors by putting in a good performance at the Africa Cup of Nations, and this will not be an easy task as the kingdom is in the group of death and will face South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire.
Note that last week, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) terminated the functions of Nasser Larguet, known to be very close to the coach. A premonitory decision?
