Morocco’s National Soccer Teams Switch to Puma in Multi-Year Deal

After eight years of collaboration, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is changing its equipment supplier. It is dispensing with the services of the German, Adidas, who has disappointed expectations and is resuming contact with its compatriot, Puma, announces a press release from the FRMF.
Since the end of the contract with the German, Adidas, last June, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has not renewed it. It has rather terminated this partnership of nearly a decade. The FRMF has signed a contract with Puma for the next four years. The clauses of this agreement stipulate that Puma will provide sports equipment to all the national teams. The amount of the new contract has been multiplied by two, compared to the previous one with Adidas, adds the FRMF.
For comparison and, according to the clauses of the first contract linking the Federation to Adidas in 2011, it had to pay a guaranteed financial contribution of 650,000 euros, in addition to premiums and bonuses, depending on the results, in exchange for seeing its sports products dress the Atlas Lions. In 2015, the FRMF’s annual balance sheet showed a contribution of nearly 400,000 euros from the former equipment supplier.
Unlike the current agreement signed by the former federal office of Ali Fassi Fihri, the next contract, signed by President Fouzi Lekjaâ, should, in principle, allow the FRMF to strengthen its growth plan and obtain more flexibility in the design of jerseys with, if possible, greater involvement of Moroccan supporters in the process of designing equipment since they will be the primary target consumers.
The choice of the Puma brand as the new equipment supplier will not fail to delight the nostalgic, as the brand has already equipped the national team in the 1990s and then between 2007 and 2012.
