Morocco’s National Soccer Team Faces Year Without Matches Amid Pandemic

Since the suspension of official and friendly matches, Vahid Halilhodzic’s protégés are on vacation and will not wear the green-red jersey until 2021.
According to the daily Al Massae, the Atlas Lions are heading towards a blank year and unfortunately will not be able to complete the year with a single match played.
Their first appointment, the double confrontation against the Central African Republic as part of the qualifiers for the 2021 CAN Cameroon, has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The World Cup qualifying rounds are also likely to suffer the same fate, according to FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani.
According to him, it is very difficult to foresee a return to normal for the moment. According to the Canadian, priority will be given to local competitions in countries where the resumption of football is announced. As for local championships and continental cups, they have been on hold since March and must continue once the crisis is over.
Given the evolution of Covid-19 in the world, the return to normal life will not be simultaneous and borders will not open anytime soon, the same daily specifies. For the FIFA Vice President, the institution is even considering reducing the number of matches for these qualifying rounds.
