Morocco’s National Ports Agency Unveils 2020 Action Plan, Focusing on Major Projects and Digitization

The Board of Directors of the National Ports Agency (ANP), held its recent meeting in Rabat. This session, chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Abdelkader Amara, focused on the examination of budget projects as well as the main axes of the agency’s action plan for the year 2020.
During the session of the Board of Directors of the National Ports Agency (ANP) held recently, the points of the agency’s action plan for the year 2020 discussed include the examination of budget projects, the consolidation of the regulatory system, the completion of the realization of major structuring projects and the implementation of digitization and dematerialization projects, according to an ANP press release.
During this session, Amara stressed the importance of continuing the investment efforts planned for the indicated period for an envelope of 3.6 billion dirhams (MMDH). He took the opportunity to congratulate the ANP executives and employees for the commendable efforts deployed.
For her part, the Managing Director of the ANP, Nadia Laraki, during the presentation of the main lines of the draft budget for this year, indicated that the volume of traffic handled by the ports under the ANP is on the rise, with a variation of +3.9%, to exceed the level of 90 million tons in 2020. She justifies this progress by the 5.7% increase in container activity and the consolidation of the growth rate of phosphate activity, which will record an overall increase of 4.9%.
The sustained growth in port activity is accompanied by the implementation of ambitious investment programs amounting to a total envelope of around 3.6 MMDH, of which around 1.5 MMDH for the year 2020 alone.
