Morocco’s Nador Airport Unveils Modern Terminal, Boosting Capacity for Returning Expatriates

The Nador-El Aroui airport now has a new terminal. This state-of-the-art infrastructure was commissioned on Friday, coinciding with the return of Moroccans living abroad (MREs) to the kingdom for Eid Al Adha.
This commissioning coincides with the Marhaba operation dedicated to Moroccans living abroad, said the Director General of the National Airports Office (ONDA), Habiba Laklalech, in a statement to the press. With an area of 2,000 m², with a reception capacity four times higher than that of the old terminal, and able to accommodate around 2 million passengers per year, this terminal cost 410 million dirhams. The infrastructure is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and is 100% built by Moroccan skills, in order to support the economic and tourist development of the Nador region.
On the occasion of its opening, Laklalech and the accompanying delegation welcomed the passengers of a flight from Düsseldorf (Germany) and visited the various dependencies of this new terminal.
In addition to the favorable reception conditions, MREs in the region will also benefit from the comfort of the new air links established with several European cities. Added to this is the airport extension project which will include the expansion of the aircraft parking lot to accommodate the simultaneous reception of six medium-haul aircraft, three wide-body aircraft and six helicopter pads, the development of a new vehicle parking lot with a capacity of 580 spaces and the development of outdoor spaces. Between June 15 and July 8, the Nador-El Aroui airport has already welcomed 52,493 passengers and thus occupies the fifth place in terms of international traffic.
