Morocco Military Aircraft Upgrade Strengthens Spain Relations
The Royal Armed Forces are equipping themselves with an Airbus C295. This acquisition, revealed by a recent photograph, modernizes the Moroccan military fleet while fitting into the recent diplomatic rapprochement with Spain.
The first aircraft of this type intended for Moroccan troops was revealed on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 by the Far-Maroc Forum. Registered as "CN-AMT," this military transport aircraft is part of a vast program for renewal of the country’s aerial equipment. It comes to strengthen the logistical capabilities of the Royal air Forces without replacing the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. Military expert Abdelhamid Harifi clarifies that these two models belong to distinct categories and will fulfill complementary operational missions in the field.

Beyond the purely tactical aspect, this purchase carries strong political dimensions. When questioned by Medias24, this specialist recalls that the strengthening of this arsenal stems directly from new bilateral relations. "Spain’s recognition of Morocco’s autonomy plan for the Sahara as the sole basis for settling this dispute is not free," he analyzes. He adds that the kingdom has procured a large quantity of Iberian equipment in the wake of this strategic understanding.
