Morocco’s Manufacturing Sector Sees 1.1% Drop in Producer Prices for August

Contrary to the month of July, the producer price index for the "Manufacturing industries excluding petroleum refining" sector fell by 1.1% in August 2019, according to a statement from the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This decline, according to the HCP, is due to the drop in prices of "Chemical industry" by 4.9%, "Metallurgy" by 3.3% and "Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products" by 0.2%.
According to the same press release reported by MAP, this drop is the result of the increase recorded in "Food industries" by 0.3%, "Clothing industry" by 0.5%, "Textile manufacture" by 0.7% and "Wood processing and manufacture of wood and cork products" by 0.2%.
The same source notes that the producer price indices for the "Mining industries", "Electricity production and distribution" and "Water production and distribution" sectors, on the other hand, remained stable during the month of August 2019.
