Morocco Mandates Formal Dress Code for Civil Servants in Government Offices

Moroccan civil servants are now being asked to take care of their dress code in the workplace. Full suits with ties or traditional djellabas are thus recommended. A reminder has been issued in this regard by the government.
The Executive wants to give a new appearance to the administration. This involves the image of civil servants, who would be "poorly dressed," according to the observation made by the Head of Government, Aziz Akannouch. In a note, the Ministry in charge of Relations with Parliament indicated that they must now take care of their dress, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya.
It was found that Moroccan civil servants do not care about their appearance, whether in their workplaces or when they are in direct contact with citizens, the note denounces, adding that the observation is the same when they have official internal and external meetings, or even when they receive foreign guests.
An embarrassing situation, all the more so as they are supposed to represent the government and the public administration, and choose an outfit that meets these requirements, the newspaper points out. To remedy this situation, the minister has required the wearing of clothes representative of the public administration, believing that this will help improve the image of the civil service.
