Morocco Mandates 6 PM Closure for Food Stores to Combat Coronavirus Spread

Faced with the coronavirus pandemic, all food stores (grocers, convenience stores...) and large stores will be closed every day at 6 p.m. This is the decision of the competent authorities.
This preventive measure, which aims to preserve the health of merchants and professionals, comes into effect from Sunday, March 22, specifies the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services (CCIS) of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, in a press release addressed to all merchants and professionals. This decision is in line with the preventive measures taken by government institutions to counter the COVID-19 epidemic.
The CCIS of the region has called on all grocers and merchants to strictly respect this decision, and to help the authorities implement it. To citizens, it has asked them to shop normally, without worry, every day before 6 p.m.
In addition, it has saluted and encouraged the associations, the professional organizations of freight forwarders, the public transport drivers, the wholesalers and retailers, who have fulfilled their role of supplying the Moroccan market and respond to the needs of citizens with great dedication and citizenship.
The CCIS of the region is monitoring, in coordination with the government authorities, all developments, asking everyone to continue their mobilization to comply with the instructions of the authorities, in particular the preventive measures aimed at protecting the health of Moroccans.
