Morocco Maintains Subsidies on Sugar, Wheat, and Gas to Keep Prices Stable in 2022

Prices of essential commodities will not increase in 2022, thanks to the support granted to the purchasing power of Moroccans in the 2022 Finance Bill.
The assurance was given by all the sectoral ministers involved in this measure, explained the Delegate Minister in charge of the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, who stated during a press conference that "sugar, soft wheat and butane gas will not see any increase, neither today nor in the future".
This price stability for these three essential products results from the subsidy provided by the Compensation Fund, noting that the 2022 Finance Bill has been drawn up taking this criterion into account to "preserve the purchasing power of Moroccans," he said.
For the record, the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Forests had reassured, at the beginning of the week, about the sufficient abundance of food commodities to meet consumption needs, as well as the stability of prices.
