Morocco "loses" the Finalissima

While the agreement is not yet fully sealed, the Madrid venue is currently the favorite to host this confrontation between the European and American champions. UEFA had initially requested the Metropolitano stadium, but this option was ruled out as the pitch will host a friendly match between Morocco and Ecuador during the same FIFA break.

The initial project planned for the match to take place in Qatar as part of the "Qatar Football Festival". However, the regional geopolitical tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States have forced the organizers to relocate the event to Europe to ensure the safety of the delegations and supporters.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA), however, has reservations about the choice of the Spanish capital. It would prefer a neutral venue rather than facing the Roja on their home turf. "UEFA and CONMEBOL are working tirelessly as time is running out," say sources close to the case, while Qatar insists in vain to keep the match in Lusail.

This Finalissima marks the second edition of a tournament that the governing bodies wish to perpetuate. In the first edition at Wembley, Argentina defeated Italy (0-3). According to UEFA, "more information on the match will be communicated in the coming weeks," particularly regarding the opening of ticket sales.
