Morocco Lifts PCR Test Requirement for International Travelers

Presenting a PCR test before entering Morocco is no longer mandatory. The Moroccan government has just opted to cancel this condition, as suggested by several health experts and many tourism professionals.

In a press release, the Prime Minister’s Office announced on Tuesday evening the new measure canceling the requirement to present a PCR test before entering Moroccan territory. The decision takes effect immediately upon publication of this press release, the same source specifies.

The press release stresses that the decision was made on the basis of the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency, but also taking into account the improvement of the epidemiological situation in Morocco.

The end of the PCR test does not necessarily mean the end of the vaccine pass. What the government does not specify, unfortunately, in its press release.

The remaining questions are:

• What should people who have not had any vaccines do?
• If these people are not vaccinated, do they have to present a PCR test when entering Moroccan territory?

The sources close to the government contacted this evening by Bladi.net were unable to answer these questions.

Update of May 18: to enter Morocco, you need either a negative PCR OR a vaccination passport. The change that occurred yesterday was mainly related to the obligation to hold a PCR AND a vaccination passport.
