Morocco Leads Non-EU Fresh Produce Imports to Spain, Topping €423 Million

Spain’s imports of fresh fruits and vegetables from [Morocco] reached 220,771 tons, worth 423 million euros. This emerges from recent data from the Spanish Federation of Fruit, Vegetable, Flower and Live Plant Producer and Exporter Associations (Fepex).
Among the non-European suppliers of the Spanish market in fresh fruits and vegetables, Morocco occupies the first place for the first four months of 2021, an improvement of 2% compared to the same period last year, with a value of 423 million euros.
Costa Rica ranks second in Spain’s imports of fresh fruits and vegetables with 104,729 tons, or +17% in the first four months of 2021 and 61 million euros. Peru follows with 72,458 tons, or +29% and 110 million euros, according to data from the Customs and Special Taxes Service of the Tax Agency, analyzed by Fepex.
It should be noted that between January and April 2021, non-European countries provided 51% of Spain’s total imports of fresh fruits and vegetables.
