Morocco Leads Global Demand for Tunisian Dates, Importing 33,000 Tons

With 33,000 tons during the season from October 1, 2018 to September 30 last year, according to data published by the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Morocco claims the first place among the importing countries of Tunisian dates.
According to the Tunisian Minister of Agriculture, "Tunisian dates have been exported to 73 destinations including Morocco (33,000 tons), the leading importing market followed by Spain with 9,500 tons", generating record revenues of 871.3 million dinars (278 million euros).
Tunisian date exports for the 2018-2019 season saw an increase of more than 13% compared to the previous season, reaching over 120,000 tons of this highly prized fruit of Tunisian agriculture.
Still according to these figures, date production in Tunisia reached 288,000 tons, including 228,000 of the "Deglet Nour" variety, worth nearly 25 million euros.
Tunisia can rub its hands because its date exports are on the rise in Morocco but also in Canada (11%), Singapore (42%), Bangladesh (54%), Mali (65%) and Côte d’Ivoire (44%).
