Morocco Tops African Tourism Rankings with 16 Million Visitors in 2024

Morocco ranks first in African tourism rankings. Each year, the kingdom attracts many vacationers from Europe and beyond.
With 16 million people, an increase of 20% compared to the same period in 2023, Morocco topped the African tourism rankings in 2024, reports Express.co.uk. Morocco owes this position to its urban centers, its spectacular seaside resorts on some of Africa’s most beautiful coastal areas, its unique blend of history, culture and natural beauty that is difficult to find elsewhere in the world, as well as its rich and diverse heritage, shaped by centuries of Moorish, Arab and Berber influences. Not to mention the winding alleys of the old medinas, the ornate palaces and mosques, and the lively souks filled with vibrant textiles, spices and handicrafts.
"For many, it is the ideal destination for those seeking adventure, culture and relaxation, all in one place," notes the publication. Travelers have the opportunity to explore the golden sands of the Sahara Desert, traverse the snow-capped Atlas Mountains or stroll through lush valleys and oasis towns. They can also take a camel trek in the desert, a picturesque hike in the mountains or enjoy a peaceful stay by the sea in cities like Essaouira. Fez showcases its deep cultural roots, while Casablanca offers a glimpse of modern Moroccan life. Marrakech remains one of the main attractions of the kingdom.
The best time to visit Morocco is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). Temperatures are ideal for exploring the kingdom during these two seasons. Temperatures generally exceed 40°C in the summer.
