Morocco Leads African Nations in German Citizenship Acquisitions, Ranking 13th Overall

In total, 11,090 Africans were naturalized in Germany in 2020 out of 109,880 foreign nationals residing in the country, reveals the Federal Statistical Office, Destatis. Among them, 2,320 Moroccans. The latter are moreover the only Africans to appear in the top 25 of naturalizations and occupy the 13th position.
In total, 28,305 nationals of European Union member countries and 30,385 non-EU Europeans acquired German nationality last year. There are 11,630 Turkish nationals, 4,930 British, 3,440 Kosovars in Europe and 33,685 Asians, including 6,700 Syrians, 4,770 Iraqis, 3,965 Iranians and 2,880 Afghans.
