Morocco Leads Africa in COVID-19 Vaccination Rollout, CDC Reports

Morocco is ahead of all African countries in terms of anti-Covid-19 vaccination, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). The kingdom is maintaining its efforts for a successful vaccination campaign, synonymous with a return to normal life.

It was last January that Morocco launched its national anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaign. The authorities have put in place a strategy that can allow them to reach the most people in order to achieve herd immunity. Despite delays in the delivery of some vaccines, Africa has been able to administer up to 70.6 million of the 103 million doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccine acquired by African countries by Thursday, according to Africa CDC, which is part of the African Union.

Behind Morocco, there are South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Tunisia. These are the countries that have acquired and administered the most doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines to their respective populations, notes Africa CDC. Morocco comes first with 24.7 million doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines administered.

Africa CDC indicates that as of Thursday afternoon, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Africa has reached 6,866,597 with 174,054 deaths and 6,016,902 recoveries.
