Morocco Launches Tender for 375-km High-Speed Rail Line from Kénitra to Marrakech

The National Railway Office (ONCF) has launched a tender for the construction of a 375-kilometer high-speed rail line connecting Kénitra to Marrakech.
The tender covers the construction of seven sections making up the high-speed rail line, Arabian Gulf Business reports, specifying that each section will cover distances ranging from 36 to 64 kilometers. The Kénitra-Marrakech TGV project aims to revolutionize travel between the two cities. Interested companies are invited to submit their bids no later than June 23.
The Kénitra-Marrakech TGV project is an integral part of ONCF’s colossal plan to interconnect Moroccan cities, ports and airports via high-speed rail links operating at speeds of up to 350 kilometers per hour. The successful implementation of this plan will allow 80% of the Moroccan population to access rail transport by 2040, a substantial increase from the current 50%.
To recall, the French engineering and consulting group Egis is supporting Morocco in the development of rail transport. It is in charge of the construction aspect but also the design, the implementation of the stations, the installation of the signaling systems, and the creation of a maintenance center for the equipment in Marrakech.
