Morocco Launches Ramadan Price Checks to Ensure Fair Food Costs

At the initiative of the Ministry of the Interior, unannounced inspections are being carried out in all the souks and markets of the kingdom, to control and monitor the situation, about a month before the start of Ramadan.
The operation aims to ensure the quality of products and the prices applied in the public and weekly souks, reports Al Akhbar.
In Salé, for example, the inspectors ensure on a daily basis, in addition to quality and prices, the supply situation and the availability of mass consumption products in the souks and various points of sale, the newspaper points out.
In parallel, these joint commissions, in coordination with the ONSSA, take the opportunity to sanction any fraud in food products and curb price speculation offenses.
To this end, the prefecture of Salé has mobilized its services to deal with all complaints reporting infractions, whether from citizens or merchants. In doing so, food products are, it is said, available in sufficient quantity and prices remain affordable.
