Morocco Launches 'Marhaba 2025' to Welcome Record Number of Expatriates This Summer

Operation Marhaba 2025 has been launched. Morocco and Spain have mobilized unprecedented human and logistical resources to facilitate the return of Moroccans residing abroad this summer.

Establishment of new national spaces at Laayoune and Dakhla airports, bringing the total number of reception sites to 26, mobilization of social workers and medical staff from the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity at all crossing points - a workforce of over 1,200 people including Foundation teams, social workers, doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers -, recruitment by the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA) of additional personnel to cope with increased traffic... Morocco and Spain are deploying significant resources to ensure the passage of MREs under the best conditions.

The kingdom has, through the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, set up a comprehensive system at the Tanger Med port to welcome MREs and accompany them throughout the stages of their journey, in order to facilitate administrative and customs procedures and provide medical and social assistance services. Thanks to APBA’s efforts, tickets can be purchased in advance on the websites of shipping companies operating on the line such as AML, Armas-Trasmediterránea, Baleària and FRS-DFDS, as well as at authorized points of sale along the main access routes to the port.

In practice, Operation Marhaba 2025 has already begun on the ground. In total, six Marhaba spaces have been set up at the European ports of Genoa (Italy), Sète and Marseille (France), Motril, Almeria and Algeciras (Spain) in addition to those in Morocco.
