Morocco Launches Major Road Projects to Boost Rural Development in Chichaoua Province

The Minister of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water, Abdelkader Amara, carried out this week a field visit to various road construction sites in the province of Chichaoua. Apparently satisfied with the progress of the work, the minister stressed the importance of these infrastructures for the population.
According to the minister, these various works are like an accelerator for the region’s economy. They will indeed help to open up remote centers and give new impetus to the economic dynamic. As he addressed the press, Abdelkader Amara noted that these works are part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities between 2018 and 2020, and development (widening, strengthening and construction).
In total, it is the realization of about 60 km of tracks, for an investment of nearly 70 million DH, details the Map. We will note among others, the project of extension and reinforcement of the national road n°11, over a length of 17 km at the level of the province, which allowed the increase of the traffic (6,000 vehicles per day). Added to this is the project to widen and strengthen national road n°11 over a length of 17 km, for a total cost estimated at 28.217 million DH. Here, the work lasted 8 months and is in the final phase, specifies the same source.
Several other road projects carried out and planned as part of the program to reduce territorial and social disparities in rural areas during the 2018-2020 period, also caught the minister’s attention. These include the development of 58.21 km of tracks for an investment of 66.01 million DH.
These are, according to the minister, projects that have been chosen on the basis of a participatory approach with the various stakeholders, in order to restructure several road sections. This will "improve traffic and road safety conditions, preserve and modernize the road network, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province," says Abdelkader Amara.
