Morocco Launches Economic Zone Near Ceuta to Boost Jobs and Trade

Following the closure of cross-border trade, Morocco has launched a project to build an economic activity zone in the Tetouan region. This zone will be dedicated to commerce and light processing industries.
The Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North has launched a tender for the establishment of an economic activity zone in the vicinity of Ceuta, reports L’Économiste.
This zone will be a job-creating source, which will help reduce or even eradicate the unemployment that is likely to skyrocket with the blockage at the Bab Sebta level. Similarly, it will contribute to strengthening the import system for the transit of goods from the city of Ceuta. This system will be implemented through the port of Tanger Med.
The economic activity zone will be built on an area of about 90 hectares. The Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North and Tanger Med Zone are the project owners. For now, the total investment cost of the project has not yet been communicated, but the earthworks and road works amount to 91.5 million DH.
