Morocco Launches Cannabis Regulatory Agency, Advancing Medical Marijuana Legalization

Morocco has opted for the legalization of the therapeutic use of cannabis, with a legal framework intended to allow the State to enhance a lucrative crop. In this sense, a cannabis regulatory agency has been created, which held its first meeting on Thursday.
On the agenda of this meeting chaired by the Minister of the Interior, the adoption of the organizational chart of the agency, the status of its staff and its budget for the year 2022. The participants also proceeded to the adoption of the specifications which specify the technical specifications related to the activities of cultivation, production of processing and manufacturing of cannabis.
In this framework, the agency will have the mission of monitoring the path of cannabis at each stage (production, processing, manufacturing, marketing, export and import) and of supporting the operators while developing the cannabis sector.
Concretely, the start of the work of this body will allow the granting of approvals to national and international operators as well as the creation of the first cooperatives for the processing and manufacture of local products.
