Morocco Launches $1 Billion Tender for Strategic Dakhla Atlantic Port Project

The Directorate of Ports and the Maritime Public Domain of the Moroccan Ministry of Equipment has just launched the call for tenders, with pre-selection, for the construction work of the strategic Atlantique Dakhla port. The opening of the bids is scheduled for January 21, 2021 at 10 a.m. in Rabat.
This is the home stretch before the start of the work, which will last at least 8 years, for an investment of 10 billion dirhams, informs Medias24, specifying that the work initially planned for 2020 has finally been postponed to next year. The Minister of Equipment, Abdelkader Amara, announced on his Facebook page that the detailed technical studies have been finalized.
The site chosen to house the port, which will serve fishing and maritime trade, is that of Ntireft, which is located 40 km north of the city of Dakhla, in an area under the rural commune of El Argoub.
The forecast traffic for the first few years is estimated at 2.2 million tons for goods. The volume of fishery products is estimated at 950,000 tons.
