Morocco Launches Ambitious Tourism Training Program to Boost Service Quality

Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor has just launched the human capital strengthening programs planned as part of the tourism roadmap for the 2023-2026 period. Proof of the importance the Moroccan authorities attach to the role of people in the development of the sector.
"In the tourism sector, the quality and dedication of the staff shape memorable experiences. This is why training is so important. We are proud to launch today this Human Capital Strengthening program, the result of close collaboration with OFPPT and private sector professionals. This program will be an essential lever not only to raise the level of service of our destination, but also to offer sustainable employment opportunities to our young talents," said Fatim-Zahra Ammor.
For her part, Loubna Tricha, Director General of the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion (OFPPT), recalled that her organization is the "guarantor of the provision of the qualified human capital necessary to achieve the new ambitions of the sector." In total, "55 specialties will be addressed, including 44 covered by our training offer in the Tourism, Hospitality and Catering professions. The uncovered specialties will be the subject of new engineering that will allow us to expand our sectoral offer, particularly in the fields of rural, cultural or desert tourism," she detailed.
The president of the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT), Hamid Bentahar, explained that "the challenge today is to strengthen the training system to meet the growing needs of the sector and to improve the attractiveness of tourism professions, because the tourism sector is an important driver of economic growth, business development and job creation, particularly for women, young people and local communities."
Last September, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Tourism, OFPPT and the CNT, essentially aimed at setting up three programs. The first, "CAP Excellence Program", aims to update knowledge according to international sector standards. The second, "Middle Managers Training Program", concerns the development of specialized skills in Middle Management, particularly in the fields of hospitality and tourism. The third, "Excellence Continuing Education Program", aims to improve the quality of continuing vocational training and diversify its methods.
