Morocco Launches 100-Hectare Argan Tree Planting Initiative in Tiznit Province

The governor of the province of Tiznit has launched a program to rehabilitate the argan grove. On an area of 100 ha, the rehabilitation focuses on the regeneration of the argan tree to improve the performance of the existing argan groves.
This operation to rehabilitate the argan grove is part of the 2015-2024 ten-year program for the reforestation of forests, which includes 7 provinces and 2 prefectures from the Souss-Massa, Marrakech-Safi and Guelmim-Oued Noun regions. But as for the province of Tiznit, Governor Hassan Khalil stressed that this operation, which required an amount of 15 million DH, and which will be implemented at the "Tachwarit" level, aims to protect the Youssef Ben Tachfine dam, to fight soil erosion and to reforest the argan trees.
The Argan Tree Development Project in Degraded Environments (Dared), financed by the Green Climate Fund, crowns the efforts of the various partners. The argan sector benefits from particular attention within the framework of the Green Morocco Plan, with the creation of the National Agency for the Development of Oasis Zones and the Argan Tree (ANDZOA) in 2010 and the signing of a program contract for the period 2012-2020 between the government and the interprofessional organization of the sector for the development of the sector.
