Morocco to Launch 3-Month COVID-19 Vaccination Drive, Aiming for April 2021 Normalcy

In Morocco, the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus will begin in mid-December for a duration of three months. Theoretically, a return to almost normal life could be possible as early as April 2021.
The vaccination campaign ordered by the king Mohammed VI will start in mid-December and end in mid-March 2021. The target population? People aged 18 and over (25 million Moroccans) and the elderly and at-risk people. This campaign will thus impact 80% of this population. The vaccine to be used will be the one developed by the Chinese Sinopharm (Morocco has also signed with Astra Zeneca and has been in contact with other laboratories). According to experts, it is one of the safest, most advanced vaccines and whose effectiveness will meet expectations. This vaccine has already been used in China.
The health authorities will organize two simultaneous operations as part of the vaccination campaign so that the first people vaccinated receive their second dose around mid-January. The second dose will have to be administered to the entire target population by mid-March, reports Médias24, specifying that it will take a maximum of 28 days from the second dose to reach a high degree of immunity.
If the operations proceed in this way, a return to normal life could be effective around mid-April, as the risk of Covid-19 infection in the population will decrease and the lifting of restrictive measures will be total.
