Morocco’s Largest Airport Reopens with Enhanced Safety Measures for International Travelers

After three months of suspension of international flights due to the health crisis, Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca is ready to welcome passengers.
Intensive disinfection, physical distancing, marked circuits and state-of-the-art thermal cameras are the measures put in place by the Kingdom’s main airport platform, which handles more than 40% of air traffic in Morocco. All of this is part of the resumption of activities to ensure a secure welcome for transit passengers.
According to MAP, the director of Mohammed V Airport, Abdelhak Mazour, indicated that the measures have been taken in coordination with the government authorities as part of the airport activity recovery plan.
The airport plans, in particular, to adapt to social distancing measures. Among these measures, the director cited as an example a signage system on the ground that makes it possible to observe distancing. But also, an awareness system broadcast in audio messages in Arabic, French and English, to draw passengers’ attention to compliance with these measures at the airport level.
In addition, a highly sophisticated thermal camera allows the detection of the temperature of several users simultaneously. In this regard, a protocol for the management of suspected passengers or personnel is provided by the Ministry of Health.
In addition, ONDA has published a guide to protection against the spread of coronavirus through the implementation of a plan for the resumption of airport activity in Morocco, to ensure a fearless welcome for passengers.
