Morocco’s Laâyoune Tightens COVID-19 Restrictions Amid Case Surge

The authorities of Laâyoune announced on Thursday the strengthening of preventive measures to fight the spread of Covid-19. The increase in cases of contamination explains this new decision with immediate effect.
Among the measures taken by the authorities, there is the strengthening of controls at the entrance to the city of Laâyoune, the ban on the broadcast of football matches in the city’s cafes, the closure of gardens, public squares and playgrounds for children from 7 p.m., and the closure of businesses and cafes from 9 p.m., reports the MAP, which stresses that gatherings and family visits are prohibited.
The wearing of masks and physical distancing will be strictly controlled and offenders will be punished with the full force of the law. The authorities call, once again, for a responsible and civic attitude, the same source specifies.
