King Mohammed VI is said to have arrived on Monday evening at the royal palace of Skhirat from Rabat, in order to spend the beginning of the summer vacation there.
To prepare for his arrival, significant security measures have been taken throughout the city. Police and gendarmerie checkpoints have been reinforced.
During the reign of the late King Hassan II, Skhirat had become a popular destination for the royal family. Mohammed VI, then crown prince, spent his summer vacations there every year.
But since his accession to the throne, the king has favored the north of Morocco, in particular the cities of Al Hoceima, Tetouan or Tangier.
