Morocco’s King Mohammed VI Considers New Ambassador to Spain Amid Diplomatic Tensions

King Mohammed VI is considering replacing the Moroccan ambassador to Spain. This position is currently held by Karima Benyaich.
Diplomatic sources confide that the sovereign intends to appoint a new ambassador to Madrid. Karima Benyaich will be replaced by another diplomat who could respond energetically to the criticism of the Podemos party towards Morocco.
For most of the diplomats and military personnel interviewed by ESdiario, this position of the Moroccan authorities can be justified by the loss of notoriety of Spain since the arrival of the progressive government and the "dangerous friendships" of Pablo Iglesias in the international sphere.
Three successive acts reveal a diplomatic allergy between Morocco and Spain. First, the offensive of boats arriving from the Moroccan coast towards the Canary Islands, then the suspension of the high-level bilateral summit that was to be held on December 17, and finally the remarks of the Moroccan head of government on Ceuta and Melilla.
