Morocco’s King Launches $164 Million Rabat-Salé Airport Expansion Project

King Mohammed VI has launched the extension work of the Rabat-Salé airport, with the construction of a new terminal.
With a budget of 1.641 billion dirhams, this extension will allow the Rabat airport to support the growth of air traffic and the socio-economic development of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
This project, which is part of the "Rabat Ville Lumière, Capitale Marocaine de la Culture" program, will increase the airport’s capacity to 4 million passengers per year, compared to 1.5 million currently.
The extension of Rabat-Salé airport will involve the construction of a new terminal with an area of nearly 69,000 m2, the expansion of the aircraft parking area (six additional stands), the development of connecting taxiways and the construction of a multi-level car park with a capacity of 1,300 spaces.
In addition to six telescopic boarding and disembarking bridges, a commercial gallery, as well as passenger catering and relaxation areas, the future terminal will be equipped with state-of-the-art technological equipment in line with international standards in terms of security, safety and quality of services, and an architecture optimizing the spaces for a smooth passenger flow.
