Morocco’s King Funds $6.5 Million Mosque Project in Majorca

Six million euros. This is the cost of the work on the future Grand Mosque of Manacor (Majorca). A project entirely financed by King Mohammed VI, and intended for the Moroccan community established in the Balearic Islands.
The future Grand Mosque of Manacor will be built on an area of 14,500 square meters. The site to host the project was acquired from the BBVA bank for around 2.2 million euros, reports the Spanish press.
In addition to the mosque itself, the project plans the construction of a shopping center and a public park. Beyond a place of worship, the Grand Mosque is intended to be a cultural and social space aimed at promoting dialogue and cohesion among the members of the Moroccan community established in the city.
The Moroccan ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, will be responsible for monitoring the progress of the work and reporting to King Mohammed VI.
