Morocco's King Calls for Stricter Consumer Protections During Ramadan

Royal recommendations to strengthen the mechanisms put in place in consumer protection, during the month of Ramadan have precipitated an emergency meeting within the Ministry of the Interior.

The sovereign personally intervened to urge the government to strengthen the mechanisms for consumer protection, through daily control, the fight against unfair competition, price increases and fraudulent practices, according to Alyaoum24.

In this context, the government affirmed that it has deployed all efforts to supply the market with basic necessities, and to guarantee the health safety of food products available in trade.

A few days before Ramadan, some government members had, through press releases, sought to reassure consumers about the availability of food products prized by Moroccans during the holy month.

In addition to the controls carried out directly on site by the health services, particularly concerning the quality of the products, the national telephone number "5757" has just been reactivated. This allows citizens, in the different regions of the Kingdom, to directly contact the permanent cells created at the level of the prefectures and provinces, to receive their complaints and comments on the supply of markets.
