Morocco’s ’King of Adulterated Alcohol’ Jailed in Major Crackdown

The "clean hands" operation carried out by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has just recorded its first legal proceedings. The king of adulterated alcoholic beverages and two of his accomplices are behind bars and await their appearance before the judge.
S.B, alias "Ould Elkhouribgui" and two of his accomplices have been staying since Tuesday at the Oukacha prison in Casablanca. This is what the Public Prosecutor’s Office near the Criminal Court of Aïn Sabaâ decided. They are being prosecuted for "possession of warehouses of adulterated, expired or non-compliant beverages with fiscal and customs provisions, sale of products that may constitute a danger to the health of citizens and sale of alcoholic beverages without authorization", writes Assabah.
The three accused were brought before the Public Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, which decided to postpone the trial to September 24. The accused will remain in pre-trial detention until their trial is held. The arrest of "Ould Elkhouribgui" and his two accomplices comes as part of the security operations carried out for several days in many alcoholic beverage stores.
Just for the day of Tuesday, September 8, the regional brigade of the judicial police of Fez seized 74,505 bottles of non-compliant alcoholic beverages bearing foreign brand names.
