Morocco Cracks Down on Alcohol Sales Violations in Major Cities

The control operations carried out by the security services in classified restaurants, shops, cafes and other establishments have allowed the police to note the deception practiced by some. Several fines were recorded in Casablanca, Rabat, Agadir and Marrakech.
According to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), these control operations were carried out from September 12 to 15 within 144 establishments and public premises in the cities mentioned. 99 violations were recorded and relate to non-compliance with the type of authorization, the unjustified absence of the manager, non-compliance with the necessary authorizations for a certain number of employees, non-compliance with social distancing and non-wearing of protective masks by employees, reports the MAP.
20 fixed transaction fines were issued, and the judicial police services have opened preliminary investigations, the objective of which is to determine all the acts attributed to the managers of the premises in which the offenses were committed. In the city of Marrakech, these operations made it possible to seize 124 expired beer bottles, 36 bottles of alcoholic beverages bearing no tax stamp or bearing suspicious stamps, the same source specifies.
