Marrakech Authorities Seize Thousands of Expired Alcohol Bottles in Warehouse Raid

A large quantity of expired alcoholic beverages was seized during control operations carried out in two warehouses in Marrakech.
The local authorities coordinated with the municipal health services, representatives of the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA), the services of the customs and indirect taxes administration in this operation in these warehouses. The main purpose of this control is to verify the customs status of alcoholic beverages and their compliance with health and safety standards.
Thus, in the first warehouse with authorizations, 26,495 bottles of expired beer, 1,592 bottles of alcohol bearing customs stamps that do not correspond to their actual content and alcohol concentration were seized, according to the DGSN.
Regarding the second warehouse without authorizations, the commission seized 2,782 bottles without any stamps, 19,978 bottles with stamps that do not correspond to their actual content, 11,161 bottles bearing 2010 stamps and 1,098 bottles bearing stamps dating between 2011 and 2013.
The managers of these warehouses were subjected to preliminary investigations under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the extent of their involvement in these offenses and criminal acts, the DGSN statement said.
