Morocco’s Karim Al Ahmadi Announces Retirement from International Soccer After AFCON 2019

"The Atlas Lions", it’s over for the Moroccan Karim Al Ahmadi. He has just announced the end of his international career, at the end of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) which he is currently playing in Egypt.
The announcement was made on Fox Sport, revealing that he was currently playing his last matches with the national team and that this was therefore his last international tournament. However, he hopes to go all the way in this competition, winning the title, having not won any trophies in 10 years of career with Morocco.
Reflecting on his entry into the game against Namibia, the player simply explained that it was Hervé Renard’s choice. "The coach opted for this configuration," he says, confident he had no pain but admitting the tournament is still long.
At 34 years old, Al Ahmadi, who also has Dutch nationality, has spent most of his career with the Feyenoord and FC Twente teams, before flying to the Saudi championship with the Ittihad FC team. Like many other Moroccan players, he should probably end his career in one of the Gulf countries.
It should be noted that a majority of Moroccan players are playing their last tournament with the "Atlas Lions" this year, most of them having already largely passed the age of thirty. The next coach will therefore have to do a lot of work in selecting new, younger and fresher players.
