Morocco’s Jewish Community Celebrates Israel’s Independence Day Publicly for First Time

In Marrakech, the Moroccan Jewish community was able to publicly celebrate Israel’s Independence Day. A historic event.
Barbecue, Israeli flags in the synagogue, traditional prayer, meal, songs and dance... The Moroccan Jewish community was able to publicly celebrate Israel’s Independence Day, in collaboration with the World Zionist Organization (WZO), reports The Jerusalem Post. For the Jewish community of Marrakech, it was time to stop hiding these annual celebrations and enjoy the fruits of the Abraham Accords.
"The State of Israel is a continuous miracle, said Neria Meir, head of the WZO’s Zionist activities department, who spoke by videoconference. The fact that we can celebrate Israel’s independence in Morocco proves that the miracle of rebirth is finding new paths every year." "The Marrakech community has contributed to the Jewish spiritual and cultural treasures throughout history, and we are proud of our cooperation with them and with every Zionist community that supports the State of Israel," he added.
