Morocco Invests in Drones to Monitor Legal Cannabis Cultivation

Morocco wants to acquire drones for nearly two million dirhams (185,000 euros) to monitor legal cannabis plantations.
The National Agency for the Regulation of Cannabis Activities (ANRAC) in Morocco has signed a contract worth nearly 2 million dirhams (185,000 euros) with a company for the acquisition of drones. These devices will be made available to the agency’s headquarters in Rabat, as well as the provincial annexes of Chefchaouen, Taounate and Al Hoceima, reports La Razón.
In 2023, some 609 authorizations for the cultivation of cannabis for legal purposes have been issued by ANRAC, including 430 authorizations for the benefit of farmers and 179 for processing activities. Also, the Agency certified last year some 2.1 million cannabis seeds based on 21 import authorizations granted by the National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) for the benefit of 32 production cooperatives grouping 416 farmers.
